Award-winning, prolific documentarian Alex Gibney (Going Clear, Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine) has teamed up with author/professor Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma) to turn his 2013 best-selling book "Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation" into a new four-part documentary series for Netflix, called "Cooked."

With Pollan serving as a narrative guide, the four-part documentary will explore the four fundamental elements of cooking (fire, water, air, and earth) while offering a look at how traditional foods are prepared and how it differs from culture to culture.

"Cooked" is set to premiere on Netflix on Friday, February 19th. Watch the trailer, above.

synopsis:
Explored through the lenses of the four natural elements -- fire, water, air and earth -- COOKED is an enlightening and compelling look at the evolution of what food means to us through the history of food preparation and its universal ability to connect us. Highlighting our primal human need to cook, the series urges a return to the kitchen to reclaim our lost traditions and to forge a deeper, more meaningful connection to the ingredients and cooking techniques that we use to nourish ourselves.
