Talk about "playing against type." Noted Shakespearean actor and "Star Trek" and "X-Men" star Patrick Stewart proves there's no limit to his talent as he plays the cold-blooded leader of a murderous gang of neo-Nazi scumbags in the new red band trailer for "Green Room."

Writer-director Jeremy Saulnier, the acclaimed filmmaker behind 2013's offbeat revenge flick "Blue Ruin," seemingly whips up another nail-biting thriller about a relatively obscure punk band that mistakenly agrees to perform at a White Supremacist rally, only to witness a murder taking place in their "green room" (a backstage room where performers can relax before or after a show). Now trapped inside the venue, each band member must brace themselves for a bloody onslaught -- loaded with machetes, box cutters, shotguns, and attack dogs.

In addition to Stewart, the cast also includes Anton Yelchin (Star Trek reboot), Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later), Alia Shawkat (The Final Girls), Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim), Callum Turner (Victor Frankenstein), Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders), Eric Edelstein (Jurassic World), Kai Lennox (Beginners), and "Blue Ruin" star Macon Blair.

"Green Room" was a critical hit at last year's Cannes Film Festival. It just screened at Sundance last week. The film is now scheduled to open in theaters on April 15th.

synopsis:
Down on their luck punk rockers "The Ain't Rights" are finishing up a long and unsuccessful tour, and are about to call it quits when they get an unexpected booking at an isolated, run-down club deep in the backwoods of Oregon. What seems merely to be a third-rate gig escalates into something much more sinister when they witness an act of violence backstage that they weren't meant to see. Now trapped backstage, they must face off against the club's depraved owner, Darcy Banker (Patrick Stewart), a man who will do anything to protect the secrets of his nefarious enterprise. But while Darcy and his henchmen think the band will be easy to get rid of, The Ain't Rights prove themselves much more cunning and capable than anyone expected, turning the tables on their unsuspecting captors and setting the stage for the ultimate life-or-death showdown.
