ABC has released a trailer for the network's forthcoming biblical series "Of Kings and Prophets," which appears to be taking a gritty, Game of Thrones-like approach in retelling the Old Testament story of David and King Saul.

English actor Ray Winstone (Noah) plays King Saul, the first king of Israel. While fellow Englishman Olly Rix (BBC's The Musketeers) is playing David, the young shepherd who is chosen by God to be Saul's successor. Even though, the King has no intention nor desire to be removed from power.

Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, the screenwriters of the Ridley Scott-directed epic "Exodus: Gods and Kings" and the upcoming "Assassin's Creed" movie, developed the 13-episode series, in which director Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor, Homeland) helms the pilot episode.

The cast also includes Mohammad Bakri (FX's Tyrant) as the prophet Samuel, Simone Kessell (Terra Nova) as Queen Ahinoam, Nathaniel Parker (Merlin) as King Achish, Haaz Sleiman (Killing Jesus) as Jonathan, James Floyd (My Brother the Devil) as Ishbaal, Maisie Richardson-Sellers (The Originals) as Michal, Jeanine Mason (Bunheads) as Merav, and David Walmsley (In the Flesh) as Joab.

"Of Kings and Prophets" will premiere Tuesday, March 8th on ABC.
