The first-person perspective is typically used for video games. But lately, it seems filmmakers have taken a liking to its immersive quality. Case in point: "Pandemic," an upcoming action-horror thriller that was likely inspired by first-person shooter games as it tells the story of a military medic who joins a group of heavily armed military officers as they search through the ravaged areas of Los Angeles for the last remaining survivors of a catastrophic pandemic. The film is entirely told from the point of view of the protagonist, which is played by "Continuum" star Rachel Nichols.

Also starring Mekhi Phifer (Eight Mile), Missi Pyle (Gone Girl), Paul Guilfoyle (TV's CSI), and Alfie Allen (HBO's Game of Thrones), "Pandemic" was helmed by indie filmmaker John Suits, who last directed the comic-book-based mystery thriller "The Scribbler."

"Pandemic" is scheduled to hit theaters and iTunes/VOD on April 1st. In the meantime, you can check out the film's debut trailer, above.

synopsis:
Pandemic is set in the near future, where a virus of epic proportions has overtaken the planet. There are more infected than uninfected, and humanity is losing its grip on survival. Its only hope is finding a cure and keeping the infected contained. Lauren (Rachel Nichols) is a doctor, who, after the fall of New York, comes to Los Angeles to lead a team to hunt for and rescue uninfected survivors.
