Clive Owen plays a down-in-the-dumps father trying to reconnect with his young son in the newly-released trailer for the bittersweet dramedy "The Confirmation," which is written and directed by Bob Nelson, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of "Nebraska."

Playing Owen's eight-year-old son is kid actor Jaeden Lieberher, star of the Bill Murray-Melissa McCarthy comedy "St. Vincent" and the upcoming sci-fi movie "Midnight Special."

The film centers on their unique father-son relationship, in which Owen's construction worker character, Walt, takes his boy, Anthony (Lieberher), on a citywide hunt for a stolen toolbox that was taken from Walt's pickup truck. During their weekend-long journey, Walt and Anthony encounter a couple of shady associates (Tim Blake Nelson, Patton Oswalt, Michael Eklund) and visit an old family member (Robert Forster) before ultimately forming a much-needed connection with each other.

"The Confirmation" also stars Maria Bello, Matthew Modine, and Stephen Tobolowsky. It will be hitting theaters and iTunes/VOD on March 18th.

synopsis:
Clive Owen shines in this irresistible comedy as Walt, a down-on-his luck carpenter tasked with entertaining his eight-year-old son Anthony while Anthony's mom (Maria Bello) and her new husband are away. But when Walt’s prized toolbox is stolen, a quiet father-and-son weekend turns into an adventure of a lifetime. Aided by an oddball drywall repairman (Patton Oswalt), Walt and Anthony go on a wildly funny search for the thieves -- and find something they never imagined: a true family connection.
