A reckless decision to bomb a civilian target jeopardizes a soldier's freedom and family life in the new U.S. trailer for the Danish drama "A War," which was just nominated last week for a best foreign film Oscar.

The drama, starring Danish actor Pilou Asbaek (who is set to play 'Euron Greyjoy' in the next season of "Game of Thrones"), was written and directed by acclaimed Danish screenwriter Tobias Lindholm (TV's Borgen, The Hunt), who also previously wrote and directed the critically-hailed hostage thriller "A Hijacking."

"A War" centers on a Danish army commander (Asbaek) who is deployed for another tour in Afghanistan, leaving his wife and children at home. During a routine patrol, the commander and his men are suddenly ambushed by Taliban fighters. When backed into a corner, the commander is pressured into making a rash decision -- a decision that will have enormous consequences for his and his family's future.

Co-starring Tuva Novotny, "A War" will be released in theaters February 12th.

synopsis:
Company commander Claus M. Pedersen (Pilou Asbaek) and his men are stationed in an Afghan province. Meanwhile back in Denmark Claus' wife Maria (Tuva Novotny) is trying to hold everyday life together with a husband at war and three children missing their father. During a routine mission, the soldiers are caught in heavy crossfire and in order to save his men, Claus makes a decision that has grave consequences for him -- and his family back home.
