CW's televised superhero special "Dawn of the Justice League" really delivered some sweet surprises on Tuesday night. Besides premiering the new "Suicide Squad" trailer, the half-hour special also unveiled an early peek at the much-anticipated "Wonder Woman" movie, which isn't even scheduled to hit theaters until the summer of 2017.

The clip shows Israeli model/actress Gal Gadot, of "Fast and Furious" fame, as the titular Amazon heroine riding horseback through a dark majestic forest with Chris Pine, who is reportedly playing Army intelligence officer Steve Trevor (known in the comic books as Wonder Woman's chief love interest).

The film, which is currently in production and being directed by "Monster" helmer Patty Jenkins, will be an origin story with the action taking place during World War I.

"We are going to see her coming of age ... the entire history ... what's her mission" Gadot says in the above snippet.

Wonder Woman will first make her big-screen debut in March as she joins the fight between Batman and Superman in director Zack Snyder's upcoming "Dawn of Justice" movie. Like Marvel, DC Comics has begun converting their comic book properties into film franchises under one entire film universe. Wonder Woman (Gadot) is also expected to appear in a two-part "Justice League" movie (also due out in 2017).

"Wonder Woman: the movie" will also co-star Danny Huston, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen as Princess Diana's mother, Queen Hippolyta. It will be hitting theaters June 23, 2017.
