In 1905, a massive rockslide in Norway triggered a giant tsunami. As a result, the waves nearly devoured a small Norwegian tourist village. Since then, Norwegian scientists have predicted that a similar event would happen again. And it's not a matter of if -- but when.

Norwegian genre director Roar Uthaug (Escape, Cold Prey) applies this real-life scientific forecast as the basis for his new disaster film "The Wave," which imagines a worst-case scenario where a gigantic rockslide generates an enormous tidal wave, giving the residents of a nearby tourist town only ten minutes to escape.

Norwegian actor Kristoffer Joner, who recently appeared in Alejandro G. Inarritu's wilderness thriller "The Revenant," stars as a geologist who is the first to discover that the prediction has come true and is now trying to save his family before time completely runs out.

Also starring Ane Dahl Torp, "The Wave" is scheduled to hit theaters and VOD on March 4th. Watch the film's newly-released U.S. trailer, above.

synopsis:
The experienced geologist Kristian Eikfjord has accepted a job offer out of town. He is getting ready to move from the city of Geiranger with his family, when he and his colleagues measure small geological changes in the underground. Kristian gets worried and his worst nightmare is about to come true, when the alarm goes off and the disaster is inevitable. With less than 10 minutes to react, it becomes a race against time in order to save as many as possible including his own family.
