A friendly snowball fight develops into a serious contest in the new U.S. trailer for the Canadian animated adventure film "Snowtime!," which hails from French-Canadian director Jean-FranCois Pouliot (Seducing Doctor Lewis) and producer Marie-Claude Beauchamp (The Legend of Sarila).

Co-directed by storyboard artist/animator Francois Brisson, the movie is based on the 1980 French-Canadian film "The Dog Who Stopped the War." Set during winter break, a group of kids split into two parties as they turn their snow-covered village into one gigantic playground for an epic snowball fight.

Featuring music by superstar singer Celine Dion and the voices of former "Grey's Anatomy" star Sandra Oh and Disney star Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally), "Snowtime!" is due to screen at Sundance next week before opening in select U.S. theaters on February 19th.

synopsis:
New animated feature SNOWTIME! is a romp through childhood full of heart and humor. To amuse themselves during the winter school break, the kids in a small village decide to have a massive snowball fight. Luke and Sophie, both 11 years old, become the leaders of the opposing sides. Sophie and her cohorts defend an elaborate snow fort against the assault of Luke's horde. Whichever side occupies the fort at the end of the winter break, wins. But what starts out as pure youthful fun and enthusiasm deteriorates into a more serious conflict, where children learn valuable life lessons on friendship, the importance of unity, and the emotional consequences of vicious rivalry. The film's underlying message -- neither side wins in war -- is as relevant today as ever.
