Gale Anne Hurd, the veteran sci-fi producer of "The Terminator," "Aliens" and most recently the hit zombie series "The Walking Dead," is teaming up with TV producer Natalie Chaidez (12 Monkeys, Heroes, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) for a new Syfy series that is based on best-selling sci-fi author Whitley Strieber's "Alien Hunter" novels.

Titled "Hunters," this 13-episode action thriller stars Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck), Nathan Phillips (Wolf Creek) and Britne Oldford (American Horror Story: Asylum) and is set in a world where criminal aliens have arrived from outer space and are now living secretly on Earth.

The drama centers on Flynn Carroll (Phillips), an FBI detective investigating the case of his missing wife. When he happens to uncover a secret government unit created to hunt down deadly terrorist cell groups -- in which members are murderous aliens, Flynn is asked to join their alien-hunting team and work alongside a bad-ass female alien agent (Oldford).

"Hunters" will premiere on the SyFy network starting Monday, April 11th.

synopsis:
From executive producers Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead, The Terminator trilogy) and Natalie Chaidez (12 Monkeys, Heroes), Hunters is inspired by Whitley Strieber's best-selling novel, Alien Hunter, in which the disappearance of a decorated FBI agent's wife leads him to a secret government unit assembled to hunt a group of ruthless terrorists -- shadowy figures that may or may not be from this world.

The series stars Nathan Phillips (Wolf Creek) as Flynn, a headstrong Baltimore FBI agent with a dark past trying to piece together the disappearance of his wife. Britne Oldford (American Horror Story) will play Regan, who is one of the government’s most valuable operatives and may be keeping secrets of her own. Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck) portrays McCarthy, an unhinged junkie and Hunter cell leader. Hunters will be tonally dark and offer a unique crossover twist between gritty crime drama and sci-fi thriller.
