A full-length trailer has been unveiled for the upcoming dramatic thriller "Colonia," which stars Emma Watson and Daniel Bruhl as a young 1970s couple who decided to live their lives as activists fighting for the rights of the oppressed Chilean people. While protesting on the streets, the two are arrested by the local military police who has now labeled Bruhl as a spy and sentenced him to a hidden camp called "Colonia Dignidad."
After learning that the rehabilitation camp where her husband was taken to is rumored to be a cult organization run by a crazed religious leader (John Wick's Michael Nyqvist) and his brainwashed followers. Lena (Watson) desperately goes undercover to join the religious sect to find her imprisoned husband (Bruhl) and help him fly the coop.
"Colonia" is written and directed by German helmer Florian Gallenberger (John Rabe), and is expected to be released in the U.S. later in the year.
synopsis:
Lena and Daniel, a young couple become entangled in the Chilean military coup of 1973. Daniel is abducted by Pinochet's secret police and Lena tracks him to a sealed off area in the South of the country, called Colonia Dignidad. The Colonia presents itself as a charitable mission run by lay preacher Paul Schäfer but, in fact, is a place nobody ever escaped from. Lena decides to join the cult in order to find Daniel. Based on true events.
