The infamous 1970 meeting between legendary entertainer Elvis Presley and soon-to-be disgraced President Richard Nixon is the basis of this upcoming satirical comedy "Elvis & Nixon," which casts recent Golden Globe Nominee Michael Shannon (99 Homes) as "The King" and Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey as "Tricky Dick."

And with today being January 8th, to celebrate what would have been the late singer's 81st birthday, the makers of the upcoming film released the first trailer, which offers a unique take on what might've happened when these two historical figures first met and shook hands.

Director Liza Johnson (Hateship Loveship) helms from an offbeat script written by actors Joey Sagal, Hanala Sagal and Cary Elwes.

Last summer during a sneak preview at Cannes, the film -- which also stars Colin Hanks, Evan Peters, Alex Pettyfer, Tate Donovan, Johnny Knoxville, Ashley Benson, Dylan Penn, and Sky Ferreira -- was acquired by the streaming company Amazon Studios with a joint theatrical deal with Bleecker Street.

"Elvis & Nixon" will first open theatrically on April 15 and, at a later date, will then be made available on Amazon for streaming.
