Not since the days of "Beat Street," "The Warriors" and "Krush Groove" have we felt the need to break out our old ghetto-blaster and dust off those old pop-and-lock moves. Prepare to go back in time where the streets of New York were littered with guns, gangs, graffiti, and old-school Kangol caps.

Check out the newly released "sizzle" trailer for Netflix's "The Get Down," featuring the very first footage from Baz Luhrmann's coming-of-age/hip-hop drama series about a group of South Bronx teens trying to survive the mean streets of New York City in the late 1970s.

Luhrmann, who's best known for directing the wildly imaginative films "Moulin Rouge," "Romeo + Juliet," and "The Great Gatsby," had been working on this project for 10 years before teaming up with the good people at Netflix. It will be his first foray into television as he will serve as an executive producer alongside "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan. Luhrmann is also helming the show's first two episodes and will be handling the directing duties on the finale.

Boasting a huge ensemble cast that features both young actors (Skylan Brooks, Mamoudou Athie, Tremaine Brown Jr., Herizen F. Guardiola, Jaden Smith, and Dope's Shameik Moore) and a few veterans (Giancarlo Esposito, Jimmy Smits), "The Get Down" doesn't have an official release date, but will be coming out this year.
