Netflix has released a first-look "sizzle" trailer for the upcoming historical series "The Crown," which is written and produced by "The Queen" screenwriter Peter Morgan and focuses on the British royal family during the coronation of a young Queen Elizabeth II (played by "Wolf Hall" actress Claire Foy).

Co-starring in the 10-episode drama are Jared Harris (as the Queen's father King George VI), John Lithgow (as England's Prime Minister Winston Churchill), Vanessa Kirby (as the Queen's younger sister Princess Margaret), and Matt Smith (as the Queen's husband the Duke of Edinburgh Philip Mountbatten -- who, at first, appears to resent seeing his wife becoming the Queen of 12 countries and Head of the Commonwealth).

"The Crown" will begin with a pilot episode directed by acclaimed English helmer Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours, The Reader), who also serves as an executive producer on the Netflix series. And as of yet, a 2016 release date is still being determined.

synopsis:
The Crown focuses on Queen Elizabeth II as a 25-year-old newlywed faced with the daunting prospect of leading the world's most famous monarchy while forging a relationship with legendary Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill.
