Comic book legend Stan Lee has joined forces with Carnival Films, the same production company behind the hit show "Downton Abbey," to create a new British television series called "Lucky Man," which will be airing in the U.K. later this month.

Irish actor James Nesbitt, who starred as Bofur in Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" trilogy, plays Harry Clayton, a hard-living, gambling-addicted homicide detective in London who, after a one-night affair with a beautiful, yet mysterious woman (played by Resident Evil's Sienna Guillory), wakes up to find an ancient bracelet has been placed on his wrist. When he discovers the ornament possesses magical abilities -- "whoever wears the bracelet is endowed with immense luck" -- the detective finds he can control his own luck, but at the expense of others' terrible misfortune.

"That's the thing about luck, Harry. It balances out in the end," someone ominously intones in the above trailer for the upcoming 10-episode thriller series, which is based on an original idea by the 93-year-old comic book writer who practically created nearly every classic Marvel superhero in history.

"Stan Lee's Lucky Man" is directed by Andy De Emmony (Our Zoo, Love Bite) and written by showrunner Neil Biswas (The Take). The series doesn't have a U.S. air date as of yet, but will be premiering in the U.K. sometime in January on the Sky 1 network.
