In this new BBC-produced miniseries, Ben Whishaw (better known as "Q" from the James Bond films) plays a "London Spy" who, when investigating the mysterious murder of his boyfriend, gets caught up in a dangerous conspiracy.

Created and written by Tom Rob Smith, the London-born author of the best-selling murder-mystery novel "Child 44," the five-part drama also stars veteran British actress Charlotte Rampling (45 Years, Swimming Pool) and veteran British actor Jim Broadbent (Brooklyn, The Iron Lady).

"London Spy," which is directed by Jakob Verbruggen ("The Fall" and the U.S. version of "The Bridge"), originally aired in the U.K. back in November but will make its U.S. broadcast premiere next month, on BBC America beginning Thursday, January 21st. Watch the new U.S. trailer, above.

synopsis:
London Spy is the story of a chance romance between two people from very different worlds, one from the headquarters of the Secret Intelligence Service, the other from a world of clubbing and youthful excess. Danny (Ben Whishaw) -- gregarious, hedonistic, romantic and adrift, falls for the anti-social enigmatic and brilliant Alex (Edward Holcroft). Just as the two of them realize that they're perfect for each other, Alex disappears. Danny, utterly ill-equipped to take on the complex and codified world of British espionage, must decide whether he's prepared to fight for the truth.
