The first trailer for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is finally out, offering an early peek at the highly-anticipated first installment of a brand-new "Harry Potter" spinoff/prequel trilogy.

Set in 1926, the film stars Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything, The Danish Girl) as Newt Scamander, a magizoologist who has just arrived in New York City from England for a writing assignment. Scamander is currently in the preliminary stages of composing a Hogwarts textbook about magical creatures and their unique habitats. While traveling through New York, Scamander quickly becomes acquainted with America's secret wizarding world when he mistakenly lets "fantastic beasts" escape from his briefcase, which causes a flurry of chaos and headaches.

In addition to Redmayne, the cast also includes Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Colin Farrell, Carmen Ejogo, Samantha Morton, and Ezra Miller.

Working from a film script by "Harry Potter" creator J.K. Rowling, English director David Yates, who helmed the final four "Harry Potter" movies, is directing "Fantastic Beasts," which won't be hitting theaters until November 18, 2016.

synopsis:
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident...were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
