It's attached to next week's release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." But, today, the trailer gods have smiled on us. So, without further ado, here's the very first trailer for director Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse," released online a week ahead of its theatrical debut.

Now revolving around the ancient immortal, mutant supervillain Apocalypse (played by "The Force Awakens" star Oscar Isaac), the X-men saga continues its "Future Past" timeline with events taking place in the early 1980s.

Newly awakened Apocalypse pairs up with Magneto (Michael Fassbender) to bring an end to all non-mutants. Their hateful actions force Professor X (James McAvoy) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) to work together. Faced with the near-impossible mission to save humanity, Charles Xavier and Mystique are left with no other choice but to recruit a new team of junior X-men, which includes a young Jean Grey (played by "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner), a young Cyclops (Mud's Tye Sheridan), and a young Nightcrawler (Planet of the Apes' Kodi Smit-McPhee).

Also returning are Nicholas Hoult (as Beast), Rose Byrne (as Moira MacTaggert), Evan Peters (as Quicksilver), Lucas Till (as Havok), and Hugh Jackman (as Wolverine). Meanwhile, Olivia Munn and newcomer Lana Condor have joined the franchise as Psylocke and Jubilee, respectively. And Straight Outta Compton's Alexandra Shipp plays a young Storm while British up-and-comer Ben Hardy is a young Angel.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is due to arrive in theaters May 27, 2016.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
