The Hateful Eight — TV Spot: 'A Deadly Secret'

added: Fri, Nov 20th '15

The first TV spot for Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight" has just moseyed its way online, and it's letting everyone know that one of these strangers has "A Deadly Secret," and Samuel L. Jackson seems to have a theory.

Tarantino's 8th film -- if you combine the Kill Bill movies -- stars Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Demian Bichir and Walton Goggins as eight strangers who take refuge in a remote cabin during a fierce blizzard.

Intending to continue on with his journey at first light is John "The Hangman" Ruth (Russell) who is escorting fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh) to Red Rock where she will face justice for her crimes. The problem is, John is very suspicious about the strange men he's forced to share a cabin with, and it seems bounty hunter Major Marquis Warren (Jackson) has just moved up to the top of his list.

"The Hateful Eight" is set to open in select 70mm-equipped theaters on Christmas Day, starting with a "roadshow presentation version" with a running time of three hours and two minutes (including an overture and intermission). A six-minute shorter version of the film will open in regular theaters on January 8th, and will reportedly contain alternate takes of some scenes.

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…
