Alice Through The Looking Glass — Trailer

Disney has released the very first trailer for "Alice Through The Looking Glass," the much-anticipated sequel to the 2010 blockbuster, based on Lewis Carroll's classic fantasy stories.

Australian actress Mia Wasikowska, last seen in Guillermo del Toro's gothic romance "Crimson Peak," reprises her role as Alice Kingsleigh, who finds herself magically returning to the fantastical world of Wonderland.

Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, and Matt Lucas will also be coming back while Sacha Baron Cohen and Rhys Ifans are new to the franchise.

James Bobin, the director of "The Muppets" and "Muppets Most Wanted," takes over the directing chores from Tim Burton, who is staying on as a producer. The upcoming sequel was again written by veteran screenwriter Linda Woolverton, who not only penned the original "Alice in Wonderland" but also wrote Disney's other recent fantasy hit "Maleficent."

"Alice Through The Looking Glass" is set to open on May 27, 2016.

When Alice wakes up in Wonderland she must travel through a mysterious new world to retrieve a magical scepter that can stop the evil Lord of Time before he turns forward the clock and turns Wonderland into a barren, lifeless old world. With the help of some new friends, Alice must also uncover an evil plot to put the Queen of Hearts back on the throne.
