By The Sea — New Featurette: 'A Look Inside'

"I wrote 'By The Sea' because I wanted to explore grief." Angelina Jolie-Pitt gets surprisingly candid in a new featurette for the broken marriage drama, which she wrote, directed and stars opposite her real-life husband, Brad Pitt.

"Much of the film and my character is very much about my mother. And my feelings about my mother," the Oscar-winning actress shares in the new clip.

The upcoming film is set in the '1970s and revolves around a grief-stricken American couple trying to salvage their troubled marriage while staying at a seaside resort in France. Many eyebrows have been raised at the notion that Angelina and Brad are portraying a couple on the verge of divorce. But as Angelina continues to explain, the movie isn't about division or dissolution of a marriage as much as it is about how someone deals with the loss of a loved one.

"By The Sea" hits theaters on November 13th.

By the Sea follows an American writer named Roland (Brad Pitt) and his wife, Vanessa (Angelina Jolie Pitt), who arrive in a tranquil and picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France, their marriage in apparent crisis. As they spend time with fellow travelers, including young newlyweds Lea (Melanie Laurent) and Francois (Melvil Poupaud) and village locals Michel (Niels Arestrup) and Patrice (Richard Bohringer), the couple begins to come to terms with unresolved issues in their own lives.
