After successfully adapting his zombie comic book into two hit cable shows for AMC, "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman is now teaming up with Cinemax for the small-screen version of his exorcism horror comic "Outcast."

Kirkman recently visited New York Comic-Con this weekend to premiere this new trailer, which sees Patrick Fugit (of "Gone Girl" and "Almost Famous" fame) playing Kyle Barnes, a young West Virginia man who, since childhood, has developed a bizarre awareness of supernatural activities, and now teams up with an unorthodox evangelist reverend as they investigate strange cases concerning demonic possession.

English actor Philip Glenister, known for playing hard-boiled '70s detective Gene Hunt on the popular British cop/time-travel series "Life on Mars," plays the Reverend Anderson in the ten-episode series, in which genre director Adam Wingard (The Guest, You're Next) helms the pilot episode written by Kirkman.

"Outcast" doesn't have a confirmed air date, but Cinemax intends to premiere the series in 2016.

The series follows Kyle Barnes, (Patrick Fugit) a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.
