Brie Larson (Trainwreck, Short Term 12) is generating considerable Oscar buzz for her career-defining portrayal of a kidnapped woman trying to protect her son in the emotionally fraught drama "Room," directed by acclaimed Irish helmer Lenny Abrahamson (Frank, What Richard Did).

A new 60-second commercial for the film offers another peek at Larson's compelling performance, as well as her nine-year-old costar Jacob Tremblay, who is also stirring up a bit of Oscar chatter for his work as a boy who never saw the outside world until his mother stages a daring escape.

"Room," in which Emma Donoghue adapted from her own best-selling novel, also stars William H. Macy, Joan Allen and Sean Bridgers. It heads into theaters next week, October 16th.

This drama tells the extraordinary story of Jack, a spirited 5 year-old who is looked after by his loving and devoted Ma. Like any good mother, Ma dedicates herself to keeping Jack happy and safe, nurturing him with warmth and love and doing typical things like playing games and telling stories. However, they are trapped in a windowless, 10-by-10-foot space, which Ma has euphemistically named "Room." As Jack's curiosity about their situation grows, and Ma's resilience reaches its breaking point, they enact a risky plan to escape, ultimately bringing them face-to-face with what may turn out to be the scariest thing yet: the real world.
