Rock the Kasbah — Behind-The-Music Parody

added: Thu, Oct 1st '15

Prepare to go behind the music with this mock featurette for Bill Murray's upcoming rock-n-roll comedy "Rock the Kasbah," which acts as an entertaining introduction to Murray's character, the washed-up rock manager, Richie Lanz, who apparently discovered Madonna, saved Woodstock from its lack of water and drugs, told Jimi Hendrix to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner," and convinced famed rock guitarist Slash to wear a top-hat. But more than anything, Richie is perhaps best known for his "golden ears."

Directed by Barry Levinson and written by Mitch Glazer, "Rock the Kasbah" follows Lanz as he finds himself floundering in the middle of Afghanistan when he spots his next potential superstar client -- a young Afghan female singer (Leem Lubany) who dreams of entering in a local reality singing competition TV show.

Co-starring Zooey Deschanel, Kate Hudson, Bruce Willis, Danny McBride, Taylor Kinney, and Scott Caan, "Rock the Kasbah" opens October 23rd.

"Rock the Kasbah" is the story of Richie Lanz, a rock manager with a golden ear and a taste for talent, who has seen better times. When he takes his last remaining client on a USO tour of Afghanistan, she gets cold feet and leaves him penniless and without his passport in Kabul. While trying to find his way home, Richie befriends a band of misfits and discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice. Against all odds, Richie will take his last shot at creating an unlikely superstar.
