Sony has released two new featurettes that gives a behind-the-scenes look at Robert Zemeckis' 3D drama "The Walk," which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as French tightrope walker Philippe Petit who famously made a death-defying stunt by walking across the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in 1974.

The first clip pays homage to the Twin Towers themselves as they once stood tall as symbols of hope in the heart of Lower Manhattan, New York. The second video spotlights visionary director Robert Zemeckis and shows how he brought the incredible true story to life on the big screen.

"The Walk" will open in IMAX 3D and select digital theaters on September 30th, with a nationwide release scheduled on October 9th.

The Walk is the true story of a young dreamer, Philippe Petit, and a band of unlikely recruits who together achieve the impossible: an illegal wire walk in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. With little more than nerve and blind ambition, Petit and his ragtag crew overcome daunting physical obstacles, betrayals, countless close calls and overwhelming odds to beat the system and execute their mad plan.
