STARZ's Flesh and Bone — Featurette

Ballet is breaking bad, sort of speak, in a new 8-episode miniseries for the STARZ network called "Flesh and Bone." The drama, set in a prestigious ballet company in New York City, was created by Emmy-winning writer and TV producer of "Breaking Bad," Moira Walley-Beckett, who is probably best known to BB fans for writing the intensely riveting "Ozymandias" episode on the final season of the critically adored series.

Seemingly fusing elements of "Fame," "Flashdance" and perhaps the ferocity of "Black Swan" sans its nightmare/fantasy aspect, "Flesh and Bone" marks Walley-Beckett's first venture as an executive producer/showrunner. David Michod, the acclaimed Aussie director of the gritty dramas "Animal Kingdom" and "The Rover," is helming the opening episode.

Both Walley-Beckett and Michod appear in a new featurette for the upcoming ballet drama, which stars English actor Ben Daniels (House of Cards) as a vicious, Bob Fosse-like dance director (think Debbie Allen from "Fame" combined with Roy Scheider from "All That Jazz"). The series will mainly feature real-life ballet performers with dancer Sarah Hay as the main lead -- a young New York ballerina trying to navigate the ultra-competitive dance world.

"Flesh and Bone" is set to premiere on Sunday, November 8th.

This dark and gritty series follows young dancer, Claire, as she joins a prestigious New York City ballet company, and encounters the glamour and dysfunction of the ballet world.
