Russian musician and music video director Ilya Naishuller, best known for helming the first-shooter video game-inspired music video/short film "Bad Motherf--ker," unveiled his much-buzzed-about debut feature, "Hardcore," at the Toronto International Film Festival's Midnight Madness section this past weekend.

The uber-violent action movie, featuring "District 9" star Sharlto Copley as a crazed government agent, is touted as "the world's first action P.O.V. film," which basically means Naishuller shot the crowdfunded movie like one long epic video-game sequence -- everything was entirely filmed from the hero's perspective. In this case, the film's out-of-sight protagonist is a cyborg super-soldier who goes on a blood-drenched rampage through Moscow in a frantic attempt to rescue his scientist wife from an evil group of heavily-armed mercenaries.

The forthcoming film looks utterly bonkers, judging by the newly-released trailer, which offers viewers an eye-popping glimpse at some the mind-blowing mayhem.

Produced by Timur Bekmambetov (the Russian-born director of "Wanted" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"), "Hardcore" is currently seeking U.S. distribution.

HARDCORE is a modern, action Sci-Fi story about HENRY, a newly resurrected cyborg who must save his wife/creator ESTELLE (Haley Bennet) from the clutches of a psychotic tyrant with telekinetic powers, AKAN (Danila Kozlovsky), and his army of mercenaries. Fighting alongside Henry is JIMMY (Sharlto Copley), who is Henry's only hope to make it through the day. Hardcore takes place over the course of one day, in Moscow, Russia and it's all shot in the same style as writer-director Ilya Naishuller's mega popular short film "BAD MOTHERF--KER."
