A&E's loss is Netflix's gain as the streaming company has picked up the fourth season of the western detective drama "Longmire," which, despite so-so ratings for the cable network, has attracted a cult following.

Based on a series of crime mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson, the drama follows the exploits of a seasoned Wyoming sheriff named Walt Longmire, played in John Wayne-like fashion by Australian character actor Robert Taylor. Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Bailey Chase also star.

Season 3 ended in a huge cliff-hanger. So, fans were definitely peeved when A&E decided to drop the series last summer. But along came Netflix to save the day. The streaming company will be releasing the show's new 10-episode fourth season next month, starting on September 10th. In the meantime, you can watch the first Season 4 trailer, above.

This contemporary crime thriller focuses on a Wyoming sheriff who's rebuilding his life and career following the death of his wife. Walt Longmire is the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County.
