The Hateful Eight — Teaser Trailer

added: Wed, Aug 12th '15

The first teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino's much-anticipated western film "The Hateful Eight" has been unveiled, and it appears things are about to get "cozy" and really, really intense.

Kurt Russell stars as bounty hunter John "The Hangman" Ruth, who's trekking across post-Civil War Wyoming with wanted murderer Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh). When a brutal blizzard prevents the bounty hunter and his prized prisoner from traveling any further, they are forced to take refuge at a stagecoach stopover in the middle of nowhere. Of course, the homespun cabin is already occupied by a bunch of suspicious-looking strangers, which leads to the question: Who do you trust?

In addition to Russell and Jason Leigh, the all-star cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Demian Bichir and Walton Goggins.

Meanwhile, legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone, known for his work on director Sergio Leone's iconic spaghetti westerns, will be providing the score for the movie. It will be the first Tarantino film to have an original score since the filmmaker has always used music from other movies for his seven prior films.

"The Hateful Eight" will open on Christmas day, exclusively in 70mm in select theaters before opening nationwide on January 8, 2016.

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…
