Black Mass — TV Spots

Check out a couple of new 30-second TV spots for the upcoming gangster drama "Black Mass," starring Johnny Depp as the legendary Irish gangster James 'Whitey' Bulger, who ruled South Boston during the 1970s.

Based on the book, "Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob by authors Dick Lehr and Gerard O"Neill," the film will follow Whitey during his time as an informant for the FBI. Joel Edgerton ("The Gift") plays crooked FBI Agent John Connolly who is assigned as Whitey's handler, and Benedict Cumberbatch plays Whitey's brother William Bulger, who was the Senator of Massachusetts at the time of Whitey's reign as "The Irish Godfather."

Directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Out of the Furnace), the film also stars Kevin Bacon, Corey Stoll, Peter Sarsgaard, Dakota Johnson, Adam Scott, Juno Temple, Rory Cochrane, and Jesse Plemons.

"Black Mass" arrives in theaters on September 18th.

In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James "Whitey" Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.
