HBO has released the first 30-second trailer for the science-fiction western-themed series "Westworld," which is based on Michael Crichton's 1973 cult sci-fi film about a futuristic amusement park that features an evil android gunslinger.

The series, which won't be airing until next year, boasts an all-star cast that includes Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, James Marsden, Rodrigo Santoro, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Shannon Woodward, Angela Sarafyan, Ben Barnes, and Clifton Collins Jr.

While Ed Harris has been cast to play the mysterious main villain, known as "The Man in Black." The role is the small-screen equivalent of Yul Brynner's robotic gunman character from the original film.

The remake series was created by Jonathan Nolan, the acclaimed screenwriter who is widely known for his recurring collaborations with his filmmaking brother, Christopher Nolan, and who also created the hit CBS series "Person of Interest." J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and Lisa Joy are also serving as executive producers on the upcoming cable series.

Picked up for eight episodes, "Westworld" is one of the last productions from legendary film producer Jerry Weintraub, who sadly passed away last month, in July, at the age of 77. The series will be coming in 2016.
