Trainwreck — Int'l Trailer

Stand-up comic Amy Schumer is "not your typical girl." And her upcoming movie is "not your mother's romantic comedy." Or at least that's what this new 60-second "Trainwreck" trailer is claiming.

Schumer is probably at the top of her game right now after the successful launch of her sketch show's third season, which has produced a number of talked-about viral videos (see: Schumer's "12 Angry Men" spoof) -- and hosting this year's MTV Movie Awards has also upped her Hollywood profile a bit. She's now taking on the film world with the upcoming rom-com "Trainwreck," starring as a somewhat promiscuous magazine writer who, thanks to her father, grew up believing that "monogamy isn't realistic," but then starts to have second thoughts when she meets the guy of her dreams, played by former SNL star Bill Hader as a successful sports doctor.

Loosely based on her own dating experiences, Schumer wrote the screenplay for Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin) to direct. The film is, in fact, marking the first time Apatow has directed something that wasn't written solely or partially by himself.

"Trainwreck," which also stars Tilda Swinton, Brie Larson, Vanessa Bayer, Colin Quinn and LeBron James as himself, will open in theaters next month July 17th.

Since she was a little girl, it's been drilled into Amy's (Schumer) head by her rascal of a dad (Colin Quinn) that monogamy isn't realistic. Now a magazine writer, Amy lives by that credo -- enjoying what she feels is an uninhibited life free from stifling, boring romantic commitment -- but in actuality, she's kind of in a rut. When she finds herself starting to fall for the subject of the new article she's writing, a charming and successful sports doctor named Aaron Conners (Bill Hader), Amy starts to wonder if other grown-ups, including this guy who really seems to like her, might be on to something.
