Following the success of their "Despicable" franchise, Universal and Illumination Entertainment have released the first teaser trailer for their fifth animated feature "The Secret Life of Pets," which looks into the rarely-seen lives of a group of normal everyday household pets while their human owners are away.

The 2016 film focuses on a Manhattan terrier, named Max (voiced by Louis C.K.), whose life gets thrown for a loop when his master brings home a new mutt, named Duke (voiced by Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet), and they soon fight one another to see which one of them gets to be top dog.

"Pets" is directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me) and co-directed by Yarrow Cheney, the film also features the voices of Kevin Hart, Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell, Jenny Slate, Bobby Moynihan, Steve Coogan, Dana Carvey, Hannibal Buress, and Albert Brooks. The film is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 8th of next year.

Taking place in a Manhattan apartment building, Max's life as a favorite pet is turned upside down, when his owner brings home a sloppy mongrel named Duke. They have to put their quarrels behind when they find out that an adorable white bunny named Snowball is building an army of abandoned pets determined to take revenge on all happy-owned pets and their owners.
