Bill Murray is a down-and-out music manager who may have found the next big singing sensation in the most unexpected of places: Afghanistan.

Check out the first trailer for director Barry Levinson's rock-n-roll dramedy "Rock the Kasbah," in which Murray leads a star-studded cast that includes Kate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel, Danny McBride, Scott Caan and Bruce Willis.

Palestinian actress Leem Lubany, who starred in the Oscar-nominated foreign film "Omar," plays a young Afghan woman with a phenomenal singing voice. Determined to compete in the reality talent show "The Afghan Star," she enlists the help of Richie Lanz (Murray), a burned-out American rock manager who was left stranded in Afghanistan after his last remaining client (Deschanel) bailed out of a USO tour, leaving him strapped for cash with no means to return home.

Written by Mitch Glazer (creator of the STARZ mob-casino series "Magic City"), "Rock the Kasbah" is due to open in theaters on October 23rd.

"Rock the Kasbah" is the story of Richie Lanz, a rock manager with a golden ear and a taste for talent, who has seen better times. When he takes his last remaining client on a USO tour of Afghanistan, she gets cold feet and leaves him penniless and without his passport in Kabul. While trying to find his way home, Richie befriends a band of misfits and discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice. Against all odds, Richie will take his last shot at creating an unlikely superstar.
