Simon Pegg is a mild-mannered schoolteacher who discovers he can communicate with his dog when highly advanced aliens zap him with superpowers in the first trailer for "Absolutely Anything."

Featuring the very last voice performance of the late-great Robin Williams as Pegg's scruffy best-friend, the upcoming British comedy, which seems like a quirky mixture of "Bruce Almighty" and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," also stars Kate Beckinsale, Eddie Izzard, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Rob Riggle, and Joanna Lumely.

The film is directed by "Monty Python" member Terry Jones, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Gavin Scott (Small Soldiers).

Providing the voices of the space aliens are Jones and his "Monty Python" comrades, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, and Eric Idle.

"Absolutely Anything" doesn't have a U.S. release date, but is scheduled to open in the UK on August 14th.

synopsis:
Absolutely Anything follows a disillusioned school teacher (Simon Pegg) who suddenly finds he has the ability to do anything he wishes, a challenge bestowed upon him by a group of power-crazed aliens (voiced by Terry Jones, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, and Eric Idle.), watching him from space. As he struggles to deal with these new found powers and the events that subsequently arise, he calls upon his loyal canine companion Dennis (voiced by Robin Williams) to help him along the way. Mishap after mishap finally leads him to the ultimate conundrum that all men dread and at which many have failed ... should he choose the girl ... or the dog?
