Marvel's Ant-Man — New Trailer

added: Mon, Apr 13th '15

Ant-Man may have been around since the early '60s. But it isn't a superhero character that fans of comic book-to-film adaptations would immediately recognize as a sure-fire bet. But if last year's success of "Guardians of the Galaxy" proved anything, it's that lesser-known or less-than-mainstream comic book properties can result in big box office numbers.

Once again rolling the dice this summer, Marvel is planning to release a big-screen version of their insect size-shifting hero. And today, the studio has unveiled a brand-new trailer for the upcoming comic book film, providing fans with a better peek at Paul Rudd in the title role.

The comedic actioner sees Rudd (who is also credited with co-writing the screenplay with "Anchorman" director Adam McKay) as Scott Lang, a convicted criminal who, after getting released from prison, comes in contact with scientist Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). For the sake of his young daughter, Scott decides to team up with the good doctor and become Ant-Man with the aid of Pym's special military-grade suit. His nemesis? Darren Cross/Yellowjacket, Pym's evil protege (played by former "House of Cards" star Corey Stoll).

Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer and Jordi Molla round out the supporting cast. While Peyton Reed (Bring It On, The Break-Up) came in to direct when a creative dispute forced "Shaun of the Dead" director Edgar Wright to leave the project early last year.

"Ant-Man" is due to open nationwide on July 17th.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
