Insidious: Chapter 3 — New Trailer

The "Insidious" franchise continues with a third chapter and here's a brand-new peek at the next entry in the ghost horror saga.

Though titled "Insidious: Chapter 3," the upcoming chiller is taking moviegoers back to the film's origins, setting the story in 2008 and centering on a new terrorized family: The Brenners.

Dermot Mulroney (The Grey, August: Osage County) plays Sean Brenner, a single father who finds himself dealing with a serious family crisis when his teenage daughter (Stefanie Scott, from Disney Channel's A.N.T. Farm) becomes the unsuspecting target of a malicious spirit. Of course, Sean is compelled to seek out help: enter, paranormal investigator/medium Elise Rainier (franchise regular Lin Shaye) and ghost-hunting techies, Specs and Tucker (again played by Aussie actors Leigh Whannell and Angus Sampson).

In fact, "Chapter 3" was written and directed by "Insidious" co-star/screenwriter Whannell, who is making his directorial debut. Whannell is also known for creating the "Saw" franchise with "Insidious 1 and 2" director James Wan, who's been busy finishing up "Furious 7." And if any fans assume Whannell's lack of directing experience would be a drawback -- well, one would only have to watch the film's new full-length trailer: jump scares galore.

"Insidious: Chapter 3" is now scheduled to be released in the summer, on June 5th.

The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. A twisted new tale of terror begins for a teenage girl and her family, predating the haunting of the Lambert family in the earlier movies and revealing more mysteries of the otherworldly realm The Further.
