Watch this 10-minute, VICE-produced documentary short on Eric Zala and Chris Strompolos, the two die-hard "Indiana Jones" fanatics who, throughout the '80s as teenagers, made a shot-for-shot remake of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" on Betamax.

The project took the two amateur filmmakers seven years to complete, except for one important fight sequence: the notorious airplane scene. With the help of a Kickstarter campaign last year, Zala and Strompolos were able to reunite and finally see their work come to fruition. Their recent reunion and their remarkable story of movie fandom are featured in this above video, which can be viewed as a companion piece to an upcoming feature-length documentary, "Raiders!" (premiering next week at SXSW).

synopsis:
Eric Zala and Chris Strompolos, two best friends who, as young kids, decided to make their own Raiders of the Lost Ark adaptation, reenacting each scene of the film shot by shot. Now older, the two have finally raised the money to shoot the final missing scene (the plane scene). Follow Eric and Chris' intimate relationship, and watch the voice actors as they rehearse the missing scene and attend the premiere of the completed, life long project.
