A newly-released international trailer for the heavily atmospheric fable "Lost River" is giving viewers another peek at Ryan Gosling's directorial debut.

The film, which stars Mad Men's Christina Hendricks and Scottish actor Iain De Caestecker (from TV's Agents of SHIELD) -- along with appearances by Saoirse Ronan, Matt Smith, Ben Mendelsohn, and Eva Mendes, is set in a grungy ghetto wasteland where old tales of an underwater utopia become the focus of hope for a young disenchanted man.

Last summer, "Lost River" was inundated with negative press after premiering to less-than-stellar reviews at the Cannes Film Festival. The movie will, however, have another chance to appeal to critics and naysayers when it makes its U.S. debut next month at Austin's SXSW, before hitting theaters and Digital HD on April 10th.

"Lost River" is a dark fairy tale about love, family and the fight for survival in the face of danger. In the virtually abandoned city of Lost River, Billy (Christina Hendricks), a single mother of two, is led into a macabre underworld in her quest to save her childhood home and hold her family together. Her teenage son Bones (Iain De Casestecker) discovers a mystery about the origins of Lost River that triggers his curiosity and sets into motion an unexpected journey that will test his limits and the limits of those he loves.
