Ant-Man — Trailer

Size doesn't always matter, as some of the best heroes come in the smallest packages. At least that's what Marvel would want you to believe when you feast your eyes on the very first trailer for the upcoming comic book film "Ant-Man," starring Paul Rudd as Marvel's size-shifting superhero.

The preview, which premiered during ABC's airing of the retro spy series "Marvel's Agent Carter," also offers the first glimpses of Michael Douglas as scientist and Ant-man creator Hank Pym and Evangeline Lilly as Hank's daughter Hope Van Dyne. Corey Stoll (of "The Strain" and "House of Cards") also makes a quick appearance as the villain Darren Cross a.k.a. Yellowjacket.

The film was originally going to be helmed by "Shaun of the Dead" director Edgar Wright. Unfortunately, creative differences forced Wright to split with Marvel, and he was eventually replaced by self-confessed comic book fan Peyton Reed, whose directing credits include the comedies "Yes Man," "The Break-Up" and "Bring It On."

"Ant-Man," which co-stars Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, Judy Greer and Jordi Molla, is slated to open theatrically this summer on July 17th.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
