Syfy's 12 Monkeys — First 9 Minutes

added: Mon, Jan 5th '15

Though it's set to premiere on Syfy next week on Friday, January 16th, you can now watch the first nine minutes of "12 Monkeys," the small-screen redo featuring "X-Men 2" star Aaron Stanford as James Cole, a time-traveler from the year 2043 who is sent to the year 2013 to prevent the global outbreak of a deadly virus.

Inspired by the 1995 Terry Gilliam-directed sci-fi thriller, which starred Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt, the new 13-episode series also stars Amanda Schull (Suits) as Dr. Cassandra Railly, a virus specialist who becomes Cole's unlikely ally during his quest to save the world. Veteran character actor Zeljko Ivanek (True Blood) co-stars as the infamous Leland Frost, a mysterious man that Cole needs to stop.

TV director Jeffrey Reiner (Showtime's "The Affair") helms the first episode of the series, which, according to recent reports, has partnered with Philips TVs and its Hue Web-based lighting system to create an "immersive lighting experience."

Follows the journey of a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.
