Kingsman: The Secret Service — Featurette: 'New Recruits'

How does a lowly street punk become a gentleman spy? The new featurette for the over-the-top action spy thriller "Kingsman: The Secret Service" delves into this question as its main stars, Oscar-winner Colin Firth and newcomer Taron Egerton, join director Matthew Vaughn ("Kick-Ass," "X-Men: First Class") in an insightful discussion about the film's zero-to-hero premise.

Firth plays an elite British secret agent who picks out a working-class delinquent (Egerton) as his promising protege. The boy is tossed in with the new recruits to see if he has the grit to make it as a "Kingsman." Meanwhile, a powerful new super-villain (Samuel L. Jackson) announces his intention to destroy the world. If it sounds like something straight out of the funny papers, that's because the film is, in fact, based on a comic book by "Kick-Ass" creator-writer Mark Millar.

"Kingsman," which also stars Michael Caine, Mark Strong, Algerian dancer Sofia Boutella and "Star Wars" alum Mark Hamill, will open worldwide on February 13th.

Based upon the acclaimed comic book, Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.
