God Help The Girl — New Trailer

Singer-musician Stuart Murdoch, of "Belle and Sebastian," and film producer Barry Mendel, of "The Royal Tenenbaums," have concocted a twee-pop musical that evokes the vintage style and imagery of 60s French cinema. In other words, "God Help The Girl" is exactly what you would have expected from the Scottish rocker-turned-filmmaker, who makes his feature film debut, and the acclaimed producer of three of Wes Anderson's films. It's seemingly knee-deep in finger-snapping quirk as the story follows three aspiring musicians (played by Sucker Punch's Emily Browning, Penny Dreadful's Olly Alexander and Game of Thrones' Hannah Murray) as they form an indie pop band during one fateful summer in Glasgow.

While "God Help The Girl" is set to open in theaters and on iTunes and VOD this Friday, September 5th, a new full-length trailer has landed online today. You can watch it, above.

From writer/director Stuart Murdoch (lead singer of beloved indie pop group Belle & Sebastian) comes the most delightfully different musical of the year. Eve (Emily Browning) is a catastrophe -- low on self-esteem but high on fantasy, especially when it comes to music. Over the course of one Glasgow summer, she meets two similarly rootless souls: posh Cass (Hannah Murray) and fastidious James (Olly Alexander), and together they decide there's only one thing to do: form a pop group.
