The Equalizer — International Trailer

Last time Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua made a movie together, it was the gritty cop thriller "Training Day." Which is to say, expectations are high for "The Equalizer," the Oscar-winning actor and action director's first collaboration since the 2001 blockbuster. And with the news that the upcoming vigilante thriller, which is based on the 80s TV series about a former government agent-turned-fixer, had scored extremely well in early test screenings, prompting Sony Pictures to move forward on a sequel -- well, expectations couldn't be any higher.

And to further fan the flame of excitement, the debut trailer for "The Equalizer" has recently surfaced online, offering the first look at Washington as Robert McCall, a mysterious ex-operative who merely takes 16 ... ah, wait ... 19 seconds to start a war with the Russian mafia as he tries to free a young kidnapped call girl (played by "Kick-Ass" star Chloe Grace Moretz). The film, in which the supporting cast includes Oscar-winner Melissa Leo, Marton Csokas, David Meunier and Johnny Messner, is slated to hit theaters this fall, starting on September 26th.

Denzel Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloe Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall's desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.
