Legendary newsman and WWII aficionado Tom Brokaw sat down with actress/filmmaker Angelina Jolie and 97-year-old Olympian/War hero Louis Zamperini for a rare interview, in which they discussed Jolie's latest film project "Unbroken."

The now-in-post-production drama (which isn't scheduled to hit theaters until Christmas) is based on Zamperini's life as an Olympian runner who became an Air Force bomber during World War II. Tragedy hit when Zamperini's plane crashed into the middle of the ocean. 47 days later, after surviving shark-infested waters, a starving Zamperini and a couple of his fellow dehydrated airmen survivors were found floating in a life raft by the Japanese. They were subsequently thrown into a prisoner-of-war camp where they were brutally tortured.

Zamperini's amazing story of survival was covered in "Seabiscuit" author Laura Hillenbrand's best-selling 2010 book " Unbroken," which serves as the basis of Jolie's second directed film. And as the Oscar-winning actress states in this videotaped interview (above), the project has been the "hardest thing" she's ever done, but it must've been fate after learning about Zamperini's current residence.

Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie directs and produces Unbroken, an epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini (Jack O'Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII --- only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.
