SyFy's Helix — First 15 Minutes

added: Mon, Jan 6th '14

In an attempt to drum up some excitement for Friday's series opener, SyFy has released the first 15 minutes of the cable network's new episodic thriller "Helix," which follows a team of scientists from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) as they are sent to the Arctic on an emergency mission to prevent a deadly "retrovirus" from breaking out.

The 13-episode drama comes from "Battlestar Galactica" exec-producer Ronald D. Moore and series creator Cameron Porsandeh, and it stars The Killing's Billy Campbell as the team captain with a personal connection to the case. Meanwhile, The Wolverine's Hiroyuki Sanada co-stars as a research doctor who first spotted the effects of the disease, but surprisingly not shocked that it has taken down a couple of his co-workers. Could he be withholding some vital information about the sudden virus outbreak? Hmm.

"Helix" launches this Friday, on January 10th.

Helix is an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation.
