For the role of a kidnapped hostage in the brutal revenge thriller "Oldboy," actor Josh Brolin had to go through a mental and physical transformation. His process of taking on such an acting challenge is displayed in this new featurette for the Spike Lee-directed film. "What Josh does is a tour de force," Lee says in the clip. "He has to play someone who's locked away for a long time."

The role didn't just require Brolin to get inside the character's manic mindset, but he was also expected to put on the pounds -- really, really fast. The clip has Brolin claiming he gained 15 pounds in four days, but it has since been reported that he actually gained 28 pounds in 10 days. And losing the weight excessively fast was also a must. Lee recalls, "In the end, he had to lose that weight, like, over the weekend."

"Oldboy," which is the English-language remake of a South Korean cult shocker about a drunken businessman who, inexplicably, is held captive for decades before getting released to search for his shadowy tormentor, will be hitting theaters November 27th.

An advertising executive is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his punishment, only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
