MADtv's Alex Borstein, better known as the voice of Family Guy's Lois Griffin and Cleveland Show's Mrs. Lowenstein, is leaving the comforts of a sound booth to star on HBO's off-kilter hospital comedy, "Getting On," which is produced by "Big Love" creators Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer.
Based on the BBC comedy of the same name, the six-episode series centers on a motley crew of nurses working in the hospital's extended-care wing for geriatric women. Borstein plays one of the less-than-cheery caretakers who sports "pole dancer" boots and an apathy for her daily .. um ... duties. Emmy-winner Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne), Niecy Nash (Reno 911!), Mel Rodriguez (Community) and legendary singer/actress Telma Hopkins (Family Matters) co-star.
HBO dropped this 30-second teaser trailer for the show which is slated to premiere Sunday, November 24th. Watch it, above.
From the creators of Big Love, this all-new comedy takes an off-kilter look at the dysfunctional staffers who must deal with myriad professional and personal hurdles at the female-geriatric wing of a beleaguered California hospital.
