BBC's Peaky Blinders: Season 1 — UK Trailer

added: Thu, Sep 5th '13

Loosely described as Britain's answer to HBO's Boardwalk Empire, "Peaky Blinders" is an upcoming six-part period gangster drama from creator Steven Knight (the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Dirty Pretty Things and Eastern Promises), which tells the story of a real-life crime family that ruled the streets of post-war Birmingham, England, circa 1919.

28 Days Later's Cillian Murphy stars as Peaky Blinders' fearless leader, Tommy Shelby, a decorated war hero who returns home where he soon finds himself in a blistering turf war, locking horns with a relentless police chief (played by Jurassic Park's Sam Neill).

Also starring Helen McCrory, Annabelle Wallis, Paul Anderson, Joe Cole and Sophie Rundle, "Peaky Blinders" will begin airing in the UK next Thursday, September 12th, on BBC Two. As of yet, there's no word if or when the show will be made available in the States. In the meantime, enjoy this 30-second trailer, above.

A gangster family epic set in 1919 Birmingham, Peaky Blinders centers on a gang who sew razor blades in the peaks of their caps, and their fierce boss Tommy Shelby, who means to move up in the world.
