Snowpiercer — International Trailer

On paper, it doesn't sound too appealing: a dingy train in the future where passengers get increasingly angry during the ride. Yet, the first international trailer for Bong Joon-ho's "Snowpiercer" is not only exhilarating, but appears to be a sure-fire winner -- especially for moviegoers yearning to see Captain America's Chris Evans as a slummy rabble-rouser and Tilda Swinton as an insensitive snob.

Set in a time where the planet has been encased by ice, human survivors are forced to live on a massive train, which zips around the world one time a year. The super wealthy travels comfortably in the front, while the impoverished passengers are packed like sardines in the back. That's until one fed-up commuter (Evans) comes up with a bright idea to forcibly take control of the train's engine, igniting a monumental war between the social classes.

For his first English-language feature, director Bong Joon-ho (the Korean filmmaker behind the monster flick "The Host") was able to grab one hell of a star-studded cast, which includes Evans, Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, John Hurt, Ed Harris, and of course his longtime acting collaborator, Kang-ho Song. The film is scheduled to open in Korea in August, and as of yet, a U.S. release date remains unknown.

Based on the French graphic novel "Le Transperceneige," the film is set in a future where a failed experiment to stop global warming creates an ice age that kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train, but a revolution brews. (via
